Positioned on the larger Himalayan range, it has an elevation of 3,048 m. It is the seat of Goddess Ganga and a main location of the Char Dham Yatra. Millions of devotees and travelers come here in search of salvation. This pilgrimage spot can be simply accessed in one day from Rishikesh, Haridwar or Dehradun. Here the summers are lovely and winters are too chilly. The Gangotri temple dedicated to the Goddess remains open from May to November.

Separately from enjoying a salubrious weather, picturesque attractiveness, you will also find amazing flora and fauna on your trek to Gangotri. The sight of blue mountain goat is a common sight here. One can take a walk through the attractive Gangotri town.

Additional attractions are Pandu Gufa. Also trip to the Bhagirath Shila, a small shrine where King Bhagirath meditated. It is believed that if you pray here for a son, your prayer will not go unanswered.
